Byd officially launched an electricforklift equipped with BYD's lithium iron phosphate batteries to the market in 2013. Compared with the mainstream lead-acid batteries and nickel-cadmium batteries in the market at that time, the lithium iron phosphate batteries usedin BYD forklifts seemed particularly "luxurious", but in terms of environmental protection issues, it was the most effective solution. No additional maintenance is required, and it does not produce exhaust gas or acid. Each forklift only needs to be equipped with one lithium battery, which can greatly increase the driving life and has excellent charge and dischargecycle performance. In addition, compared with lithium cobalt oxide and lithium manganese oxide batteries, the safety of BYD's lithium iron phosphate batteries has also been greatly improved. They can with stand harsh working conditions such as needle puncture, fire, compression and collision, and can be said to be the preferred power battery for new energy forklifts.

According to the carbon emission calculation standard, the carbon emissions of an internal combustion forklift are 20 times that of an ordinary car. For every 10,000 working hours, the carbon emissions of an internal combustion forklift are 54 tons more than those of a lithium battery forklift. Forklifts equipped with BYD lithium iron phosphate batteries can significantly reduce pollutant emissions compared to traditional internal combustion forklifts. In addition, the new generation of forklift products do not require the construction of charging and ventilation facilities, which can free up ground space for additional work.
